Salesforce Marketing Cloud Advisor & Architect
About the role
We are looking for an experienced and client-oriented Salesforce Marketing Cloud advisor who combines hands-on experience with strong architecture and advisory skills. You will be a key person in client engagements – someone who can listen, understand business challenges, and translate them into concrete, effective solutions in Salesforce Marketing Cloud. The role requires you to thrive at the intersection of technology and business. You are driven by delivering real value to clients – not just delivering technically, but contributing strategically.
You see Marketing Cloud in the context of the broader Salesforce platform – Data Cloud (Data 360), Agentforce and Flow – and advise clients across marketing, sales and IT. You are equally comfortable discussing strategy with a CMO as you are discussing data architecture and governance with a CIO or solution architect.
Key responsibilities
Client guidance and advisory
• Act as the primary advisor and sparring partner for clients on questions relating to marketing and automation
• Understand the client's business goals, target audiences and marketing challenges, and translate these into workable solutions
• Advise at the decision and roadmap level, not only on individual campaigns or solutions
• Contribute to the client's build-vs-buy decisions between custom development and standard platform capabilities
• Lead workshops and discovery sessions, and present recommendations in a clear and compelling way
• Bring a commercial mindset with the ability to drive value – including contributing to pre-sales, solution shaping and estimation
• Build trusted, long-term client relationships
Architecture and business orchestration
• Design solution architecture that connects Marketing Cloud with Data Cloud, CRM and Agentforce across departments
• Advise on data modelling, identity and consent management across channels and clouds
• Bring a strong understanding of data integrations in complex enterprise landscapes
• Ensure compliance with Salesforce best practices and standards across solutions
• Establish governance, quality and evaluation frameworks for both deterministic and AI-/agent-driven solutions
• Translate business goals into architecture decisions and roadmap-level priorities
Configuration and technical implementation
• Define and manage data models, data sources and segmentation
• Configure and maintain Salesforce implementations according to client needs
• Can advise on the implementation of email, SMS, push and advertising campaigns with correct tracking, personalisation and testing
• Define complex automation flows
• Produce requirement specifications and briefs for technical add-ons such as AMPscript, SSJS or other code-based customisations, for technical staff
Campaigns and customer journeys
• Design and build end-to-end customer journeys that leverage multiple channels and data points
• Can advise on segmented, personalised and trigger-based campaigns tailored to different stages of the customer journey
Analytics and continuous improvement
• Establish and interpret reporting across channels and campaigns
• Identify improvement opportunities in the client's existing solutions and provide prioritised recommendations
• Stay up to date on new Salesforce Marketing Cloud features and bring relevant opportunities to clients
Qualifications and experience
Required
• Minimum five years of hands-on experience with the Salesforce Marketing Cloud portfolio
• Experience with solution or program architecture on the Salesforce platform
• Understanding of the interplay between Marketing Cloud, Data Cloud and CRM (Sales/Service)
• Demonstrated experience delivering campaigns across multiple channels
• Ability to communicate technical solutions to non-technical decision-makers
• Strong analytical ability and a structured way of working
Desirable
• Salesforce certifications at architect level (e.g. Marketing Cloud Engagement Consultant, B2C Solution Architect, Data Cloud Consultant)
• Experience with the Salesforce platform and its interplay with Marketing Cloud
• Familiarity with agent-based/AI-driven marketing (Agentforce, LLM orchestration)
• Experience from the consulting industry or similar advisory roles
• Experience leading or mentoring other consultants
Personal attributes
• Solution- and client-oriented, with a genuine interest in understanding the client's situation
• Skilled at structuring and communicating complex information in a simple way
• Independent and proactive, but also thrives working closely in a team
• Curious and up to date on developments in marketing automation and CRM
• Able to elevate and share knowledge, making the team around you better
• Comfortable challenging the client constructively and taking clear positions
